FUNERAL Kenneth Koltz died on Monday, November 27, 2017, at the  age of 81 years, 5 months, and 19 days. Funeral services were conducted on Friday, December 1, 2017.

MEMORIALS In memory of Esther Werth: $50 for the Window/Restoration Fund given by William & Ina Campbell. In memory of Inez Hemling: $370 for the Window/Restoration Fund and $10 for the School Memorial Fund given by relatives and friends.

QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING will be on Sunday, December 10th, at 11:40 A.M. At this meeting we will adopt the 2018 Ministry Spending Plan (Budget). All voting members are encouraged to attend

LADIES AID will hold their annual Christmas luncheon on Thursday, Dec, 7th, at noon in the church basement. The catered buffet will cost members $6.00. Invited guests at no charge. As approved at our Nov. meeting, a special collection will be taken to benefit the Lakeside Assistance Fund for St. Stephen’s students. Door prizes will be given out. Our school’s Jr. Choir, directed by Mr. David Schulz, will entertain us after the meal.

OWLS We have been celebrating the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation  in 2017. In bringing the year to a close with Germany highlights, Gene Nimmer will provide a travelogue “Journey through Lutherland”. The presentation will be on Tuesday, December 12th, in the church basement beginning with a potluck. A short meeting of OWLS will follow. We welcome everyone to join us.

BIBLE STUDIES Sunday study is different than the weekday study. Sundays at 9:00 – “Galatians”. Monday 7:00/Wednesday 11:00: “Job: Faith Put to the Test.”

AN ADVENT SERVICE will be held on Wednesday, December 6th, at St. John, Juneau. This is a joint service with St. John’s, Good Shepherd, and St. Stephen’s. Please join us for this special service at 6:30 P.M.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY We will resume on Sunday, December 10th.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY They will resume on Wednesday, January 3rd.

  • Stephen’s Piano Students Recital – Monday, December 18th, 6:00 P.M. The recital will be taking place in the church this year on the church’s nicest piano. We ask that the ramp entrance be the main entrance for this event.
  • Stephen’s Band Concert – Tuesday, December 19th, 6:00 P.M. The Concert will be in the Gym. Floor seating may be limited so come early if you prefer not to sit in the bleachers.

SCIENCE CURRICULUM DONATION The school thanks Betty Cundy for her generous donation towards updating the school’s science curriculum. Through efforts of the congregation we hope to install a new curriculum and add some aspects of STEM (an engineering science program) to our science curriculum. We recently raised $1,000 toward it through the Culver’s Care Night.
